Lately

What's up everyone. It's been awhile. I know. It's just that I have been so so so SO busy to post anything. That's why I always encourage everyone to follow my instagram because that's where I am at majority of my time. Plus I really can't sit for long periods of time. I get really antsy.

So, what's new around here? If you notice I re-branded. Since my blog is taking a sharp turn towards skincare and makeup (not so much food or home style), my blog name just wasn't meshing well. I loved Big Small Nerd don't get me wrong. But I needed something more upbeat and classy. And here we are. That Natalie. Why the name? Well... I am That Natalie. Ya feel me?

So here is a quick little update. I am still alive and kicking... don't worry.

I saw an Instagram post somewhere in my search section (that's what gets my wallet in trouble) and I came across these cosmetic bags from Truffle. And the one I wanted was out of stock. So I headed over to Mercari and searched. Found the old school vintage one they no longer made and got it! FOR HALF THE PRICE!!! But as soon as the one I really want is back in stock then I will buy it.

I really like how this one is flat. Because I hate it when my stash falls to the bottom and makes it bulky leaving little room in my purse. Plus I am OCD and I like lining my things up side by side. Can't help it. The colors are pretty and the bag itself is sturdy. The zipper to me, is like industrial strength! I still love all my Glossier bags and they have all become a good use for something, but this was perfect. I am just holding out for the smaller bag in petal. It's a pretty pink with red zipper.

I finally learned how to french braid. I didn't watch any YouTube videos or looked up any tutorials. My co-worker gave me a 5 second run down by showing me motions on her fingers. So I told my small nerd to turn around and just went to town. It wasn't that hard at all.

I want to talk about my eyebrows for a hot minute. For the longest time they were over plucked, damaged from many years of waxing and very uneven. So I left them alone. I’ve been using Kosas clear eyebrow gel to help lift them and create a “fluffy” look. Plus they help stimulate growth. Also, from time to time (when I can remember) I’ll swipe some castor oil on at night before bedtime and I have seen improvement. It’s slowly but surely working. Thank god!!

My eyebrows haven’t looked this full and fluffy in YEARS!! I’m so happy. But that doesn’t mean I’m not doing a little extra sumtin sumtin to achieve the fuller feathered look I keep seeing all over. So I started using Glossier brow flick pen. And of course boy brow. Which I ordered my 3rd tube by the way because the stuff is AMAZING!! All I do is light strokes and do a little flick here and there and draw a tiny arch on top and fill a little bit here and there. Finish with boy brow and then after it’s dried I pack in the clear gel to “lift” and fluff them. I’ve had a lot of compliments about my eyebrows too. Someone in Ulta asked if I do microblading. Nope! Just a little bit of eyebrow products and a flick of the wrist and BOOM! Perfect eyebrows!!!

I was at Ulta the other day during their spring deals and I came across the last bottle of Touchland hand sanitizer. I have seen it all over Instagram. Actually the girl that posted about the Truffle bag I mentioned had some of this sanitizer in the bag. And let me tell you... this stuff is awesome. It's very moisturizing at the same time. On their website they sell for $12 but since it was one of Ultas deals I got it for $9. SCORE! Oh - and they're refillable! Even better because the bottle is neat looking. They also have cute colorful shields.

I am excited about Kiehl's. I was using gel-like moisturizers from K-beauty brands and it wasn't working well with my face. It never soaked into my skin. It just laid right on top of my face leaving me looking like a glazed donut. Plus my face was very dehydrated. I mean I had my moisture priming rich from Glossier during the day but at night my skin needs some TLC from wearing a mask all day. But when I used my Kiehl's ultra facial cream sample I was hooked and had to buy it. There is no smells. No scent at all. And it's creamy, not watery.

I read an article from Kaley Cuoco about her swearing by Kiehl's under eye cream with avocado to battle dark circles. And I love this stuff. I swear by it as well. I plan on getting their whole line. It would be perfect for my skin type.

I am so happy Florida is having some nice spring weather. I am obsessed with my white American Eagle jeggings. White goes perfect in the spring. A spring-like top with white Pumas and I am ready to go. This is my go-to outfit for work. Whether it's dress down day or dress up day.

Last but surely not least... you guys have got to invest in a I Dew Care silicone brush to apply your face masks. Why has it taken me so long to get one of these things?! It not only leaves my fingers mess free but it applies the mask evenly. Plus I’m not using too much product. Best investment ever. Get one. Stop using your fingers.

And that's it! Have a wonderful Sunday and week ahead of you.

  1. Way to go with that french braid! I love doing my kids' hair in braids because it stays so nice and doesn't get tangled. Love the new look and name. I just followed you on insta!

Until my friend/co-worker showed me with her hands real quick on what to do. I was like ooohhhhh okay. Went home and BAM!! Thank you so much! I loved my old blog name but in order to get more PR opportunities I needed a change. You know?

    1. Hey thanks!! I’m hoping for more PR opportunities now that I renamed my blog to something more sophisticated. The bag was too tall for my purse so I switched back to my Glossier bag. This one is now holding all of my nail tools.

  3. That French braid turned out great! Having grown up as one of three girls in the house we all learned how to do all sorts of up do's, braids, and even home perms; sometimes we didn't have the best results but we learned a lot along the way. I will still French braid my own hair from time to time... my husband and mother in law were really surprised to watch me do that one time in the middle of Disney while waiting in line. My long hair was just too hot and getting in the way.

    1. You can French braid your own hair!! I can’t even braid my hair regularly without it looking like a hot mess!! And my hair is long too. I can pull it to the side and braid what I can but to start at the back of my head and not watch what I’m doing never works for me. Then I get frustrated and throw it in a mess bun or whatever hair clip I have laying around. Also, being at Disney your hair has to stay up. Even in the winter time. Which one did you go to? Cali or Florida?

  6. I love American Eagle jeans. I am wearing them now. I have a black pair that I adore. I should try a white pair. I love the rebranding. It looks great. I want to rebrand, but I did a poll and people said not to. I did change my IG handle though.

    1. Yah if you have a big following and you have been your name for awhile, it would mess up a lot of things. People are used to where you are at. Since I’m so small and have only a few readers I went ahead and but the bullet. My numbers were cut in half but I’m cool with that.

    1. Thank you! And it's super easy!! You just gotta pull from each side as soon as you pull a piece of hair to that specific side. I wish I could show you the finger gestures I was shown.
