minimal makeup

Jun 26, 2021

lately it's been all about minimal makeup. since i live in florida, a full face of makeup during the summer is not a good thing. it's hot and humid so the products just slide right off my face. that is money and time wasted. plus, you literally look like a grease ball. you can blot your face all you want. it's not oil. it's sweat.

if you have seen the new trend on instagram about wearing less makeup then you will know what i am talking about. it took some courage to go work or out in public with minimal makeup. and since i work at a high school where i see people all day, normally i would cover up every single flaw seen to the naked eye because i needed to be "presentable". well... i am here to say it's okay to look natural with a little bit of product here and there. natural beauty is in these days anyways.

i have wrinkles. i have acne and acne scarring. i have uneven skin tone. and i have very sensitive/dry skin. so a face full of makeup always became uncomfortable for me throughout my day. so i made the decision to wear less and not care what anyone thought. if i liked what i saw in the mirror and my husband liked what he saw, then that's all that matters! i am 40. this is my reality. and i accept it finally. i have been doing my skincare religiously so wearing a full face of makeup is unnecessary now. skin first, makeup second.

and here i am. minimal makeup. all i have on (that you see from the top photo) is stretch concealer in the shade g10, lidstar eyeshadow, cloud paint blush, lash slick mascara, ultralip in villa and brows are simply boy brow in clear. less is more.

i feel so pretty in my skin. i embrace it now.

enjoy your weekend - xo

  1. I've missed wearing lipstick during mask season, and , like you, I tend to wear less makeup in summer.

less makeup feels so much lighter during the summer. i might even wear my makeup like this during the winter too.

  3. You look so gorgeous, my friend! I have always been one to wear a full face of makeup before venturing out of my house, but lately I am embracing minimalism and even no makeup sometimes. I really used to hate my face with no makeup, but not anymore! We are all beautiful in our own right with or without makeup. And when it's too hot, a fresh face is so much more comfortable and looks better than melting makeup, too!

    1. Skin first, makeup second as Glossier says. If you think about it... when you do skincare and use the right product to target your skin issues, use the correct product for your skin type... you won't need makeup anymore! I refuse to wear foundation. All I wear is skin tint (which is like a tinted moisturizer tbh) a little concealer to cover up spots, a little bit of light, balmy blush on the cheeks, eyebrows, mascara, one light color on your lids and boom. Oh, lets not forget the lips!

But for real though. Caked faces aren't in anymore. Minimal, barely there is!

  4. I've always been a less is more when it comes to make-up so a lighter look is a winner in my book. Thanks for sharing your post on the Fine-Whatever link-up.

  5. You look beautiful! I hardly ever wear make up, though I think about it. Haha! I often feel too lazy to put it on, especially with nowhere to go. Sunscreen, and chapstick are my good to's.

    1. Thank you! I have a lot of lazy days where I just cover up a blemish and wear mascara and some Vaseline on my lips (that's the best stuff ever for glossy lips) and call it a day. Of course, SPF first HA!
