tiktok fashion

Jun 2, 2021

Yesterday was my daughters 10th birthday. And all she wanted was clothes and shoes. And it had to be a specific kind. The days of shopping at Justice are officially over. I blame TikTok.

Not only did she have a request for Hollister, baggy pants and big t-shirts... she wanted her very first pair of Nike Air Force 1. Now with it being summer break and school is over next week, I wanted to wait for back-to-school. But, her dad caved.

This is what fashion is all about these days with kids. Big and baggy pants, sweat pants, oversized t-shirts, little to no-makeup and tennis shoes. I actually ordered a pair of sweatpants myself last week. I guess you could say it's all about comfort these days. And boy do I like that.

Because I work at a high school, loungewear has really made a name for itself. I am completely okay with wearing baggy sweatpants and t-shirts instead of really tight jeans with tons of holes and tiny shirts. Well, for my daughter anyways. So I was pretty happy to see what her new fashion style interest was. I am on board.

Another place my daughter constantly browses is Shein. I had to watch her TikTok wishlist to grab what she wanted. I managed to get 4 outfits because the rest sold out of her size. The look on her face when she opened her birthday gifts.

We had one condition with her when buying the Journey shirt. She must listen to their songs to understand who she was wearing and appreciate it. Ha!

So that's that! My little TikTok fashionista. I must say. I am quite proud of her. She sure knows how to piece together an outfit.

  1. OMG, Natalie! My heart just burst. She is so adorable and her style is fantastic! Little girl clothing has been ridiculously too skimpy over the past decade, it is nice to see that trend shifting. Oh, and big huge happy birthday to your sweet girl!

  2. Very cute! I much prefer this style to the skin tight, skin baring outfits of the past.

  3. Oh, how sweet. It so fun (and challenging) when your children begin to take an interest in what they wear.
